Scavenger

A Scavenger or Scav is an individual that makes a living salvaging the remains of pre-war society for surviving technology or other items of value. This often involves venturing into the Radlands, Desert or other dangerous and contaminated areas.

The first Scavs came into existence immediately after the Great War when survival depended on being able to scrounge for food, medicines and weapons. Individuals with a gift for such work were soon in high demand - a group of survivors with no Scavs faced almost certain death - and many Scavs were able to demand whatever price they liked for their services.

As society slowly rebuilt itself the importance of Scavs decreased somewhat. Scavenging for basic supplies became less important, and Scavs moved to supplying goods that post-war society was unable to manufacture. Increasingly these materials were only available in the Radlands and Desert, and Scavs became experts in surviving these hostile environments as well as scrounging.

Although often thought of as scruffy and deranged, Scavs are by definition smart, tough and resourceful individuals.
