Blue Tongued Dragon

The Blue Tongued Dragon is a mutated descendant of the blue tounged lizard - a reptile species that survives in unmodified form. The dragon is essentially a much enlarged version of the lizard, reaching up to five metres in length.

Dragons are docile and inoffensive in nature, avoiding human habitation. If provoked they will make a threat display, opening their jaws wide to reveal their blue tongue and hissing loudly, and attempt to flee. If flight is not possible they will fight back with powerful bites, and swings of their large, club-like tail, which is more than capable of smashing arms and legs.

Dragons are not particularly fast, but their huge size gives them massive strength, and their heavy, shingle-like scales offer protection against many types of firearms. This has led some to try and produce bullet-proof clothing from dragon skins - the results of such experiments have not been impressive.

Some people hunt dragons, but true outdoorsmen regard such folk with scorn. There's no skill in killing what is essentially a large, harmless lizard.
