Frenchmans Bay
From Wild Southwest Wiki
Frenchmans Bay is a large bay on the southwest side of King George Sound, roughly defined by a line between Mistaken Island, Seal Rock and the Flinders Head isthmus. It is well known as the location of the Frenchmans Bay Whaling Station and its service settlement (also called Frenchmans Bay).
The bay itself is chiefly notable for the wreck of a pre-war destroyer sitting upright on the shallow seabed. Salvaging materials from this ship was considered during the PRS Resurgam project in the 2060's but investigations showed the wreck to be far too deteriorated.
The bay is sometimes called "Frenchman Bay". Both names are generally acceptable.
