Lane Jacqueline Sue (Born November 14th 2042) is a General in the Porongurup Rangers. As the longest serving General (appointed in September 2083) in the High Command she is the second in command of the force, and is widely expected to assume command on the eventual retirement of Commander Cannington.

Sue was born just after the end of the Winter in King River to a family claiming an ancestor in the pre-war Australian special forces. She joined the Rangers as a cadet at the age of 17 in 2059 and served with distinction in the Pirate War, including a period as part of the first crew of the PRS Resurgam. She also received a commendation for her part in the battle of Esperance in December 2065 in which she charged and disabled a machine gun nest under heavy enemy fire.

She was promoted to Lieutenant in May 2066 and assigned to the Porongurup Garrison. Here she helped maintain order during the Satellite Plague. In January 2067 she took command of the garrison on the death of all superior officers and kept it running until a relief force arrived from Albany in early March.

On the strength of her performance under these difficult conditions Sue was promoted to Captain in early 2068. She served the Rangers in a number of capacities over the next few years, notably in the transport and signals corps. In 2073 she was promoted to Major and assigned to the newly established Porongurup Rangers Academy where she became a well respected and popular instructor teaching Officer Trainees. She remained at the Academy until 2079 when she was promoted to Colonel and moved into the Administrative department of Rangers Headquarters in Albany.

Four years later in 2083 she was promoted to General and joined the High Command where she has served ever since, rising to second in command in 2091 with the retirement of General Lucca Hardy.

Sue is a popular officer whose strengths lie in organisation and rapid assessment of situations. She is unmarried, often joking that she is wedded to the force, although in her youth she was romantically linked to a number of high profile Albany businessmen. She is first cousin to Colonel Jason Richard Sue, commander of the Mount Clarance Radar Station.
