The Governor Stirling Hotel - often known colloquially as The Stirlo - is arguably the best known hotel and bar in the city of Albany. Located at the corner of York Street and Stirling Terrace overlooking the waterfront, the Stirling is famous for clean rooms, excellent service and slightly steep prices (although many point out that you're getting what you pay for).

The large public bar is open 24 hours a day and is a favoured meeting spot. Even in the small hours of the morning it's generally packed, particularly in winter when a roaring fire is kept constantly going in the huge fireplace.

Meet Me at the Stirlo is a popular song among sailors and dock workers throughout the Southwest, although not one that can be sung in polite company.
