Mount Melville is the second highest of the three hills surrounding Albany.
Located to the west of the city it stands 150 metres high. Close to the summit is an old observation tower that offers a panoramic view of the entire city and the surrounding countryside - it is often used as a watchtower by the Rangers and the Albany Fire Service.
The city's sports field is located on the west side of the mountain.
