Design

The design is an outlined equilateral triangle pointing downwards, transected by a vertical line from the centre of the triangle upwards. Above the triangle the line turns a right angle rightwards. It is often emblazoned with the initials "PR", standing for "Porongurup Rangers".

Symbology

The shape represents a phoenix with wings outspread. Its head is turned to the right, looking to the future.

History

The Phoenix was designed by Captain Davis in 2029 as a marker for areas of Albany claimed by the Middleton Militia. The simplicity of the design was intentional - such markings needed to be easily and quickly painted, often while under attack by other gangs. The symbol of a Phoenix was chosen to stand for the rebirth of civilisation and order from the ashes of the Great War, the cause fought for by the Militia.

Modern Use

The Phoenix appears on the Porongurup Rangers' flag, on their cap badges and on their belt buckles. It is the symbol of the force, and can be seen in numerous places in every Rangers facility.
