Esperance is an abandoned pre-war town on the Pirate Coast.
Engulfed by the Desert with no reliable water supplies and close to the limits of sailing, Esperance is rarely visited. A few explorers, thrill seekers, and Scavs do make the trip from time to time, but little of value remains among the sand choked ruins and most captains regard the risks as too high.
The site was last occupied during the Pirate War when it was a major pirate base. It was cleared out by the Porongurup Rangers (with the aid of the P.R.S Resugam) in December 2065.
Kalgoorlie is said to lie about a week's journey due north of Esperance.
