King George Sound
From Wild Southwest Wiki
King George Sound is a large (around 110 square kilometres) sound on the south coast. It contains two almost landlocked harbours, and a number of islands and peninsulas. It is the best natural harbour in the Southwest and the location of the city of Albany.
The sound is protected from the Southern Ocean by the Flinders Peninsula. The Vancouver Peninsula separates Princess Royal Harbour from the sound proper. The Kalgan and King rivers empty into the sound via Oyster Harbour, which enters the sound at Emu Point.
Islands in the sound include Michaelmas, Breaksea, Seal and Mistaken Islands.
Settlements around the Sound include Albany, Pagoda Point, Frenchmans Bay, Emu Point, Bayonet Head, and King River.
